The painting depicts an elegant, stylised illustration of a woman in traditional Asian dress, surrounded by blooming lotuses. The woman stands among large, decoratively depicted leaves and blue flowers, holding a long stem with a white lotus, which she brings close to her face with her eyes closed and head raised - as if in an act of contemplation, gratitude or meditation.

Her clothing is dominated by motifs of cranes and flowers in intense colours, which contrasts with the neutral golden brown background and the calm colours of her surroundings. The skirt in navy blue is decorated with delicate, bright spots reminiscent of cherry blossoms or stars. The woman also wears a wide hat and a decorative hair band.

The composition is extremely harmonious and full of symbolism:
